How do I delete addresses in Contact - permanently.

My contacts list in Outlook is clean and up to date. Over the past year I
have entered new email addresses for people that have changed their address.
When I address an email, old addresses that ar no longer in my contact list
appear - any many times are listed first. How can I permenantely remove
these old email addresses from Outlook.

A second annoyance is the addresses that apear when I type a name in the To:
box. There doesn't seem to be any rational as to the email address that
appears. For example, if I type Karen, some times an address for a Karen
that I sent an email over a year ago appears, not the Karen I sent to last
week.

Thanks

You did not post clearly.
Old addresses cannot show up if you are entering them from your Contacts. I
suspect you are using some other method, but you failed to tell us how you
are entering the addresses so I can't tell.

I open a new mail message and enter in the To: Ken. There is a pop up widow
with up to 4 names with Ken someplace in the name. I had just sent a message
to Ken using the correct email address, but the first "Ken" that shows up is
an old email address I haven't used in months. I do this as a short cut to
enter email addresses. That old eamil address for Ken is no longer in my
contact list - the contact list has the newest and correct address.

What is happening?

You're using autocompletion, which has nothing to do with your Contacts.
Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
