How do I clear old e-mail addresses out, so they don't try to aut.

when manually typing in an e-mail address it trys to auto populate it with
the wrong e-mail address from my contacts. How do I clear that so it doesn't
show the old address?

Change the Contacts e-mail address and use the system as
intended.

But Outlook doesn't just pull guesses for email addresses out of contacts,
it also pulls from existing email, including any incorrect addresses on
existing email.

Does anyone know of a way (maybe a registry hack?) to tell it to use only
contacts and address books for autofill guesses, and not existing email?

Thanks,

Chuck Davis doesn't know what he's talking about. To delete an entry,
select it using the arrow keys and press Delete.

Use autoresolution (Automatic Name Checking) instead of autocompletion
(Suggest Names). The former uses information from your Contacts Folder. The
latter uses a cache of names to which you've previously sent messages (not
emails in your folder).

Russ,

Thank you.

Now for a third option, can I set it to work like it did for me in Outlook
2002? Unrecognized names received a red squiggle underline. I could right
click a right squiggled name to choose from options. Once choosen, it would
become a sort of autotext, and a similar entry would next time automatically
convert, with a green dashed underline to indicate this had happened, and
the opportunity to override this with a right click.

Thanks,
Tim C

In theory, once you disable autocompletion and leave only autoresolution
enabled, that's exactly what it should be doing. Are you seeing behavior to
the contrary?

I made the bad assumption that my machine was typical. I should know
better, since it my primary test machine. It went from Office XP to Office
2003 Beta to Office 2003, which has left it a little twitchy. I think it's
time for a complete uninstall and clean install.

The feature does work normally on other computers in the office.
