How do I change the length of a footnote seperator?

Word defaults the footnote seperator at 1". My document requires a 1.5" left
margin. How do I move the footnote seperator to that 1.5" margin?

Change the view to Normal, View, Footnotes, View Footnote area (this appears
if you have both Foot- and End- notes), change "All Footnotes" to "Footnote
Separator", now you can edit the separator line.
Hope this helps

And note that the Footnote Separator (and Separator Continuation) are
by default set to Normal style, so if Normal style is indented, so
will be the lines. You could simply move the indentation triangle in
the ruler, but it would be better to assign a Style that doesn't have
indentation so it'll stay the way you want it. OTOH, if you want the
indentation and Normal style doesn't have it, then give it a style
that _is_ indented.
