How do I change the blue background in the menu bar?

Just installed Office 2003 on my brand-new computer, so this is also my first
time working with Windows XP. In word, when I press any buttons, such as
Bold, Center Alignment, etc., instead of changing color slightly like in
prior versions of Word, they turn BRIGHT ORANGE. Yeah, that's tremendously
distracting (I have ADD, so that's a big deal). I imagine this change came
about partially because the menu bars are blue now, so I imagine the answer
lies there. But the Help is, as usual, little help for accomplishing the
little annoying stuff the home user needs.

Hi

I hate the orange buttons, too. However, this depends on Windows settings,
not Word settings. Try Start > Settings > Control Panel (or something along
those lines, depending on how you have set up Windows). In the Control
Panel, choose Display. On the Appearance tab, make whatever changes you feel
are appropriate. One instant way to get rid of the orange buttons is to
abandon the new Windows XP-style and choose the Windows Classic style.

Hope this helps.
