how do I change the address bar search engine?

When I search from the address bar, I usually just type
in the words I'm searching for and press enter. However,
the search engine that usually pops up doesn't anymore, I
get an unfamiliar page. How do I go about fixing this?

Most probably you have been hijacked. Download CWShredder
from
http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html, Spybot
from http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?
lang=en&page=download and Ad-aware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Run them while offline and in
SAFE boot mode, delete the red entries that Spybot
generates. Reboot and to ensure that you do not get any
future unwanted downloads do the following. In IE, go to
Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, in Browsing uncheck
the boxes for Enable Install On Demand (IE and Other)
Click OK. Finally, download SpywareBlaster and
SpywareGuard from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
install it and regularly update them. Use updated
Adaware/Spybot now and then just to confirm that you have
no spyware on your computer.
