Please ask this question in a Word newsgroup; this newsgroup is for a
different program, Microsoft Access. If you are coming through the web
interface, scroll down the list of subject areas; if you're coming in
from the online Help, use the dropdown box that says "Access" to pick
Word instead.

Hi Porch,

I'm afraid that you've been directed to the wrong newsgroup - this is one
for questions about Microsoft Access, their database product. You could try
asking over in the Microsoft Word newsgroup.

Having said that, I think your problkem might be with the Autocorrect
function: in Word 2000, go to Tools -> Autocorrect and to the "AutoFormat
as you type" tab nad have a look at what the Replace as you type checkbox
"Straight quotes" with "smart quotes" says.
