How do I backup Outlook 2007

With Outlook 2003, there was a downloadable program that would backup the
..pst files. Will it work with 2007? Will it backup contacts, calendar,
tasklist, etc. with the mail or what?

I need to do a completely clean install on a computer that has Outlook 2007
installed and I need to backup these files before wiping the hard drive.
Would like to get as much off of the hard drive as possible.

Also, I have Groove 2007 on this computer as well as my laptop. Is it
possible to sync all the data (as listed above) and thereby avoid backup all
together?

Yes.

Yes, since all your Outlook data is kept in the same file.

Beats me. I've never used Groove.

Actually, Sue Mosher has posted this about using the 2003 backup tool with Outlook 2007:

Have a look to GrooveIT! for Outlook.
It does not allow you to sync Outlook content between 2 computers, but would
help you to archive (or share with your team) calendar items, contacts and
emails to Groove workspaces

Hope it helps...
