I DID TRY TO TYPE =SUM(D11:D19) IN BOTH THE D19 CELL AND ABOVE IN THE LINE...
I'M TRYING TO ADD UP A WEEKS MILAGE ON MY CAR MON-SAT
WITH A TOTAL FOR THE WEEK IN CELL D19....& I WANT TO KEEP IT AS A TEMPLET...

GEORGE GEE ...THANKS FOR THE REPLY....I DID NOT GET ANY RESULT IN D19....
AS FOR D11-D17 I DID NOT PUT ANYTHING IN THEM...I ONLY PUT
=SUM(D11:D17) IN CELL D19....& THAT'S WHERE IT STAYED....I'M SURE THIS IS
VEWRY EASY....BUT I'M MISSING SOMETHING...YOU GUYS MUST THINK I'M A JERK...
BUT I CAN USE EXCEL IN OTHER WAYS... WHEN I PUT THE INFO AS I WAS TOLD IN D19
& PUSHED THE ENTER KEY NOTHING HAPPENED...ALL THE INFO STAYED IN D19

In other words after you typed the formula and hit the enter key this what
you see in cell D19:

=SUM(D11:D19)

If, as you say, there is no data entered in the range D11:D19 then the
formula should return a result of 0. If you don't see 0 and instead you see
the formula itself try this:

Select cell D19
Goto the menu Format>Cells>Number tab>select General>OK
With cell D19 still selected press function key F2 then hit enter.

Chris

Type 20 in cell D11
Type 30 in cell D12

Type =SUM(D11:D17) in cell D19

Do you get a result in D19?

But it is annoying as Hell for those you are asking help from; besides, why
do you have to see it... you already know what it says.<g> Seriously, it is
very hard to read around all those upper case letters (some consider it the
equivalent of shouting) and it is considered rude to use it. It would be
most welcomed if you would refrain from using all caps in your future
postings.
