How do I access a .pst data file after I pull it off of a back up

I have a back up CD from a past site I was stationed at and need to pull some
info off it. The back up is from my old outlook box. The file comes up as
..pst, and I can't get my outlook to open it now.

Remove the read only attribute. Open it using this complicated series of
commands: File > Open > Outlook Data File.

It is in "Read Only" on the CD. You need to copy it onto a
drive. Then select the properties of the file and turn off the
Read Only.

Once you have done this, Open Outlook and then Open
the data file into your Outlook program.
