How can I stop MS Word from starting when I launch Outlook?

How can I stop MS Word from starting when I launch Outlook? Everytime I
launch Outlook 2003 MS Word starts also. Is this a configuration setting?

I've never had it enabled, but I have a strong suspicion it is this:

In Outlook click Tools>Options>Mail Format
Uncheck both references to "Use Microsoft Word..."
Click OK
