Right clicking the contact and clicking on 'send an email to this contact'
will open up your hotmail/msn account so that you can send the email. If it
is not opening your hotmail/msn email account what web site is it taking you
too?

It does open my hotmail account, but i'd like it to open my outlook express,
how should i do?

My suggestion:

You should correctly ID your problem. Your header says "outlook" but
you just said you use "outlook express." They are NOT the same thing;
the only thing they really share in common is the word Outlook in the
title.

Sounds as though you are currently using a web related reader, etc. Right
clicking MSN Messenger and selecting Send E-Mail will result into what you
have set as default.

You can check under IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs and
Control Panel/Add or Remove/Set Default Access and Defaults for starters.

If you meant OE:

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Restore OE to the E-mail List in Internet Options (Row 9)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/restore_oe_client.reg

Restore Hotmail, Outlook and OE under Programs (Line 250)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Reset OE for Send To , Mail To , Send Mail (Line 64)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Added info:

Email Page - IE/with clickable link (Line 60):

My, my, NobodyMan! Just about every post of yours carries endless
amount of misinformation. That's not good! Especially for a self
proclaimed know-it-all like you. <grin>

For starters, Microsoft Outlook doesn't do newsgroups! Obviously you
didn't know that. But you don't know a lot of things as well (but
you still pretend to know them). <grin>

And if you ever used Outlook, you would realize they share a lot
more than the name Outlook. In fact, Outlook Express actually shares
some components with Outlook, particularly those used for displaying
HTML messages, handling S/MIME security and managing Internet mail
accounts. Also the same address book.

If that wasn't enough, navigating around is very similar between
them. Meaning if you know how to work one, the other one is easy.
And if that isn't enough, they also share the same Microsoft name
and spell checker dictionaries as well.

So the next time you wish to say something smart, you just might
want to just stay away. As you really don't want others to know how
little you really do know, do you? Although I have a feeling this
one just flew right over your head. <sigh>

P.S. For others who rather use Outlook as your newsreader, it's a
little known fact that it is indeed possible with 3rd party addons.

Eh? No it doesn't. It calls OE. You can EMULATE newsgroups by using Public
folders in an Exchange Environment. There ARE third-party add-ins that will
do newsgroups, but Outlook 2003 does NOT do newsgroups natively!

Let's not get hung up on niggling details or defintions. While the Outlook
Newsreader is in fact a poorly disguised version of OE (in /outnews mode),
the News capability is indeed native to OL. See OL Help > News for enabling
the option.

Yes it is.

I just did on this laptop running Outlook 2000. And I'll show you
mine if you show me yours? And here is what mine states:

"If you have not previously set up a newsreader, Outlook
automatically sets up the Outlook Express Newsreader. If you
have set up a different newsreader, you can still start your
newsreader from within Outlook."

Now I don't care what you believe. But remove Outlook Express from
your system (and all other newsreaders). And try to get Outlook to
read any news, well it just won't work! As Outlook never and still
doesn't, have the ability to read any newsgroups.

If you still feel that I am incorrect, well that is fine. But if you
want to change my mind, you're going to have to come up with
something I didn't already know. Which is indeed possible, so it
isn't a lost cause or anything.

Cheers!

I'm afraid I must take exception with you here. Outlook Express, while
sharing some files with Outlook, is, as I'm sure you will agree, a
COMPLETELY different program to Outlook. Outlook Newsreader is NOT "a poorly
disguised version od OE", it is Outlook Express complete, but with the
/outnews switch. I re-assert: Outlook does NOT do newsreading in itself. I
don't see how you can POSSIBLY say that that is a "niggling" detail; - it's
FACT.

<snip>

Neither OL2000 nor OL2002 include the OL Newsreader option, no. If you
re-read the thread, you'll see were discussing OL2003, however.

The OL Newsreader is not an "integrated" newsreader, no.
