When I try to open Outlook 2002 for the initial setup on the primary user
account on my PC I get the folling error message: " Failed to register a VB
Script DLL. Reinstall or run Regsvr.exe VBscript.dll to self register". I
have tried to remove the software and reinstall several times without
success. What is the "fix" for this problem?

Did you reregister the DLL like the error says?

I have tried by removing and re-installing the software, "repairing" the
software and using the Microsoft "fix it tool", all without success. I guess
I don't understand what steps I need to take to fix the problem. I am a
novice when it comes to "computer talk"

The error message gave you the steps. Click Start>Run and enter

regsvr32.dll vbscript.dll

Click OK.

OK, I tried exactly what you said, but I received an error message, so then I
tried entering "regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll" and it said that the step
succeeded, but when I then try to open Outlook, I still get the same error
message that I have received since this problem started. The full error
message is EXACTLY AS FOLLOWS:

Failed to register a VB Script DLL. Reinstall or run Regsvr.exe Vbscript.dll
to self register. The form cashe file 'C:\Documents and Settings\David
Stone\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS\FRMCACHE.DAT' is not
valid. Contact your administrator.

This problem only occurs for the primary user/administrator for this PC.
There are two other users on this PC who are using Outlook with no problems.

Failed to register a VB Script DLL. Reinstall or run Regsvr.exe Vbscript.dll
to self register. The form cashe file 'C:\Documents and Settings\David
Stone\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS\FRMCACHE.DAT' is not
valid. Contact your administrator.

Clear the forms cache by deleting the file in the message (while Outlook is
closed) and letting Outlook rebuild it.
