How Can I Remove Special Sata Controler installed with Windows F6 now drive physically removed?

In order to test new software for a client wit a Gigabyte 8PENXP which has
a Raid 0 controller for two SATA drives, I added a third SATA disk
installing the driver adding a SCSI device driver during Windows install
using the F6 key and a floppy with the drivers.

I have finished the tests and removed the third disk. Now in Windows [XP Pro
=SP2] when I open a drive in Computer Management\Disk Management\ and click
to open a disk I get a message
"The system cannot find the device specified" and then the disk opens
I assume the System is still looking for the device since driver is still
present.
How can I remove the device? I expect a repair install I place would do that
but I would like a simpler solution if there is one

Thanks Ron, I have tried this but Windows just finds it and restores the
device. During the boot phase I see the Silicon Image Controller appear with
no drives attached.

You should be able to disable the device.
