How can I remove AOL?

have cancelled subscription to AOL, and now want to remove all components
BUT AOL is not listed when I open "Remove/Install Programs" !
How can I safely get rid of it, without deleting other files containing AOL
that may be Windows ones?

delete,close out,open HKEY_LOCAL_USER/software,do the same,close out
regedit.

You could try first re-installing AOL to replace the Control Panel
entry, and then uninstall it properly. However, I'm not all that
confident that it would do you much good.

Sadly, the only practical way I've ever found to completely remove
AOL from an operating system is to format the hard drive and perform a
clean installation. I absolutely loathe having to resort to a hard
drive format to fix what should be a relatively minor issue, but it
takes a lot less time than manually removing/replacing all of the
Windows system files that AOL replaces with their own versions and the
hundreds of unnecessary registry entries.

The OP asked how to remove AOL, not hide it.

You didn't say what version of AOL. I guessed that you have AOL 9.
If so, the uninstaller is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\aolshare
I believe the filename is aolunis_us.exe or such.
Just double click to start the uninstall process.

With a sledgehammer......... ;0)

I'm sure most would agree.......Format & re-install the OS, it's much
easier than than finding AOHells tentacles......Unless of course it was
a proprietary machine with it already built in to the restore disk.....

If that's the case, with the money the OP saves from giving AOL the
boot, he or she can buy a copy of a generic OEM XP.
