How can I re-import a subweb into a site?

BACKGROUND
I have a site "company" and had a SubWeb site. In a fit of stupidity, I
removed that subweb (I think I made it a "regular web" site) in FrontPage.

Now, when I update the main site, it erases formatting/themes in the subweb,
necessitating uploading the subweb again.

QUESTION
Is there any way to bring that SubWeb back into the main site so that
(hopefully) updating the main site don't foul up the subweb?

How about File > Publish, then select remote to local?

Do you mean publish from my server to my local hard drive?

That won't solve my problem. My problem is that the sub web and the regular
web are being published to the same server and when published they *seem* to
be writing over each other's files. So, my server files are the ones that are
fouled up.

I need some way to take my subweb and 'merge' it back into my main site.

Presuming your local copy still has a valid subweb
Convert the folder in the online site to a subweb and then publish from local to remote (including subwebs)

The local copy does *not* have a valid subweb. That's the problem. I
converted that subweb to a seperate web. Now I have TWO webs. I want to
convert the web (former subweb) *back* into a subweb in the main web.

Open the "subweb" in FP, then publish it to the other web.

Example: http://localhost/otherweb/subweb

c:\MainWeb\

and c:\subweb

I would open the subweb and publish to c:\mainweb, correct?
