How can I preview image attachments in Outlook 2002?

Is there any way to configure Outlook (I am using 2002)
to display image attachments in the same way that Outlook
Express does? i.e. embedded at the end of the e-mail?

If this is not possible, is there a way to View
or "Preview" the image attachment without having
to "Open" it, or "Save" it and then open it, in my image
editing application?

No. There is no version of Outlook that can be configured to do inline
previewing of attachments. The only time you would see a graphic is if
someone sent you an html formatted message and had inserted the picture as a
background.

no, outlook does not support inline preview of images. if your image editor is
the default for open, it should open up in it. by default, newer windows
versions use the fax viewer for previewing apps but you can change it.Windows
explorer, tools, option, files types.

Thanks neo & Diane.

My main problem was that most image files on my system
are Opened with Paint Shop Pro - a great program but
total overkill for just viewing a picture! I had to wait
for PSP to start if I was just checking my e-mail.

I am using XP, so I changed the "Opens with:" option from
PSP to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer for GIF and JPG
files (Windows explorer, tools, option, files types, as
suggested by Diane). Now I can preview these files almost
instantly from within Outlook. If I need to edit them, I
can save them, then right-click them and choose "Open
with > PSP".

I would prefer Outlook to show these files like Outlook
Express does, but I can live with this solution. Is there
a reason Outlook does not have this feature?

<wild guess> Each program was designed for a target audience and corporate
users don't tend to get many picture type attachments. </wild guess>

and/or the way it was implemented in OE was not possible in OL, especially
when word is the editor.
