*muffin*

I am not sure if this is correct newsgroup (sorry if Its not)

I am trying to figure out how to use my computer in another room than the
main box. meaning I need to remote the keyboard/mouse & use a monitor.

the main computer box will be in a floor above where "I" pysically need to
be for a few months <for several hours a day & am not going to move my large
box from room to room>
sooooooo
I have looked into some RF wireless keyboards, but am not sure what range
size to be looking at (it will be used about 12 feet horizontally & 6 feet
vertically from box).(or do I get LONG extensions? suggestions where?)
I am also not sure HOW to set up a monitor????
are there wireless systems? or where would I get (cheaply) a long extension
monitor cable?? ( probably 50 ft ??)
(I do have extra monitors , so I don't have to move my original one)
I am also running win98SE

*help*...... please?

I'm not even sure what you are exactly asking. If the "computer" is going
to be on a different floor, what exactly do you plan on having on YOUR
floor??? The monitor generally needs to be within 10 to 15 feet maximum of
the video card in the computer to avoid interference noise appearing on the
monitor's screen.
My general take is that what you are asking for is not possible.

Search eBay or Google for "Extended KVM" or "KVM Extender"
and you will find (not cheap) wired solutions.

Sounds like you need a laptop really. Right now, I'm pretty sure the
closest you'll get to what you want is a laptop connected to your PC through
a wireless connection. I haven't heard of wireless monitor signals, or 50+
feet monitor cables, even though that's more likely to exist. Something I
read about is this Viewsonic technology, which is basically a low-end tablet
PC that synchronizes wirelessly with another system. For all it's worth,
here's the link to that info:
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/wirelessmonitors/.

Good luck finding a solution.
