How can I go to the top message after moving to another folder?

Someone has just upgraded us to Outlook 2003. Now when I move from one
folder to another, instead of going directly to the most recent message, I go
to the last message I looked at. How can I restore the facility of going to
the top of the list?

What happens when you click on the folder node in the tree pane that you
want to view rather than using the Back arrow in the toolbar which takes you
back to wherever you were before?

Hello, Vanguard -

that's how I always navigate.

I have each of the folders set to "arrange by date". Whewn I was using the
earlier version of Outlook the folder always opened at the most recent
message, at the top of the list.

Now, although the messages are arranged by date, the folder opens at the
last email I looked at. I would like to go back to the old way of doing
things, but I can't find any way of seeing how to do so!
