How can I get math-science symbols into Word 2003?

Word used to have a specific "math-science" set of symbols. I first came
across them when I bought a new laptop in 1995 and it came preloaded with
Office Professional. In 2003 I bought a new laptop that came with Office
Professional 2000, but these symbols were not there any longer. I recently
upgraded to Word 2003 and it seems to have even fewer science related
symbols.

How can I get these back? Thanks

Go to Insert > Symbol, be sure the coding is set to Unicode, and go to
the various "Unicode blocks" dealing with mathematical symbols. You
may have to set the font (in the Insert Symbol window, not necessarily
in your document) to an all-purpose font like Times New Roman or
Tahoma or Lucida Unicode. When you find the characters you need, you
can either doubleclick them in this panel (if you just need one once
in a while), or assign a Keyboard Shortcut to the ones you're going to
use a lot (button at lower left of center).
