How can I find video files on my Vista PC?

This must be so simple, but I can't find how..

In XP I could find all pictures and/or music and/or videos simply by ticking
a box.

In Vista I can do pictures and/or music; but I can't discover how to do a
find for videos.

How can I find video files on my Vista PC?

Sorry to ask such a simple question.

I'm afraid that only finds .avi videos.

Entering .avi doesn't find .wmv or .mpg or any of the other types that I
can't remember the extensions of.

In XP selecting videos finds almost all the various video types at once.
(Admittedly, it doesn't do .rm, afaik)

So the question still stands: How can I find video files on my Vista PC,
without entering individual extension codes for all the various types?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Ahh ok now I get it.

Here you go:

How to search for video files in Windows Vista:

1. Click on Start.
2. In the Start Search field, type "kind:videos" (without the quotations).

Your video files will be displayed in the search results as long as they
have been indexed. If you store your video files on an external drive, you
may need to add it to the search scope:

1. Click on Start, and then click on Control Panel.
2. Click on System and Maintenance and then click on Indexing Options.
3. Click on "Modify".
4. Click on "Show all locations". If user account control prompts for
consent, provide the appropriate credentials or click on continue.
5. Under "change selected locations", place a checkmark next to your
external hard drives or other folders where your video files are located,
and
then press OK.

It may take a little while for the Windows Search indexer to index your
video files after addng their location to the index.

Hope this helps, have a great day,

Well, I guess for the .rm and .divx you just have to search for it using the
file type through the Search field

Thanks to Andre for the enter kind: video reply. It was what I was
looking
for.

It works just like XP (but still doesn't find .rm videos (nor .divx
which
I thought XP did) - hey ho)

Thanks also to Bob for the tip about modifying the locations.

Thanks again

Steve
