How can i change a text document to a Word document?

I am just learnind word and have an immediate need to convert both PDF
documents and text documents into Word. Can anyone help me with this? I have

A text document you open in Word using File/Open. Then you use File/Save As to
save it as a Word document file type.

Hi,
I am unsure as to why you wish to convert PDF to word, but because I needed to edit and add information, I bought a Scansoft PDF converter 2.0 which works perfectly, but is a bit pricey. I believe it cost around $60.00. However, you can buy used ones on Amazon for around $17.00 and new ones for around $35.00 (e.g. at Very PDF.com). They also have a free download, but I am not certain as to whether or not this is a demo, in which case, they often only let you convert, for example, the first page.
