How can I add a countdown timer into PowerPoint's slide master?

I am trying to add a countdown timer that would display on top of my slide
show. Preferably, I would like it to show down to the second, hundredth of a
second would be wonderful, but I'll settle for just a second. Is there an
existing program that we can add into the slide master that would display a
countdown timer on top of all of our slides?
