Hotmail and Outlook - Operation Failed

Can anyone help me setup Hotmail in my Outlook? It posts
all of my messages and shows all of my folders but when I
hit "send/receive" is gives me an error
message "operation failed", likewise, when I try to send
an e-mail it says "Operation Failed, an Object Could Not
be Found". This when I am not attaching anything, just
trying to send a test message. So, on top of this, I
cannot log into my hotmail account over the internet
because some conflict must be present. Any help is truly
appreciated.
