Hosts supporting FP Extensions

Jean-Pierre

Hello everybody,

I live in Belgium. I try to find a host supporting the FRONTPAGE extensions, but
very frustatingly, the prospective hosts that I investigated in France and in
Belgium do not support FP extensions.

The main question is : does there exist a place (site, ... ) where one can find
a list of hosts supporting FP extensions, rather than finding one by luck. It
seems that most (if not all) French hosts do not.

Does requesting the extensions usually increase the fees charged by the host ?

If I cannot find a host that support these extensions, what is the way around to
have, eg the "counter" possibility" or the form (Not the E-Mail, which is
standard and does not require the extensions) that allows a visitor to give some
information.

The last question, for my education only, is why do some hosts support FP
extension (at least I suppose !) and other (most ? ) do not. Is it in some way
an extra burden on them (royalties to MS, load on the servers, maintenance more
complicated...) or is it just a matter of policy ("If it is good for MS, it is
bad for us" type of reasoning). I know that in Belgian and French universities,
MS products are "strongly" discouraged, even WINDOWS. Use LINUX is the general
advice.

Thank you for "lighting my lantern".

You can host anywhere in the World... A good web host doesn't charge extra for the FP extensions, at
least Windows IIS web host.

The FP extensions are free to all web host.
