hosts file

Read about using a HOSTS file to stop ads and banners from displaying
while surfing net. Instructions also explained the problem with the
IE back button. Instructions were given to elimate the back button
problem. The HOSTS file I installed has many entries. There are two
sites still giving me problems.

In the HOSTS file I have:
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net
127.0.0.1 view.atdmt.com

In the internet explorer restricted zone I have added:
*.doubleclick.net
*.atdmt.com

When I view web pages, numerous ads and banners are not displayed but
quite often when I click the back button a url is quickly displayed in
the status area and is always one of the two sites mentioned above,
then 127.0.0.1 displays momentarily but nothing else happens until I
click the back button again.

I'd like to continue using the HOSTS file but only if I can resolve
the 'back button' problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Yes I have. Have you? Did you read the statement:

'Note: By placing these type sites in the Restricted Zone this also
cures the "Back Button" issue.

I tried to explain I had done that but I still have the 'back button'
problem.

OK I misread your message.

1) Have cleared your cache just in case the page in queston is in your
system because you inadvertently visited the site before the HOSTS file
was implemented.

I have just tested it and I can't replicate it on my system Perhaps my
firewall/nat is blocking it. I can' check it now because it is not
convenient. It is in another room which is locked!!

Regards.
