Host Computer Loses Network Connectivity Upon Remote Connection

I just installed the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client on my iMac (Intel). I
was able to connect to my remote computer (a Windows XP Pro laptop in another
part of the house). I saw my remote computer's desktop but then the remote
screen appeared to lock up. I went to check the laptop and it had lost its
connection to my wireless network. I had to reconnect. This happened every
time I made an RDC connection from my iMac. Any ideas what might be causing
it? My PC antivirus is AVG and I have not tried disabling it. I do not use
any firewall software. Please let me know if you need more info.

Have any Windows machine you can use to remote to it?

What is your wireless network card?

What is your wireless router?

Latest drivers and software installed for your wireless network card?

Are you logging into an account *already* logged in?

What are the settings for the network when you log out/aren't logged in?
