Host can't connect to internet after setting up home network

I have one XP desktop, three XP laptops, a cable modem and a D-Link Wireless
Broadband Router. I decided to set up a home network with the desktop as the
host in order to share files and printers. Using the Network Setup Wizard, I
chose "Connect to Internet through a Residential Gateway" option. Everything
worked as intended with the exception that the desktop can no longer access
the internet (file and print sharing works, all laptops can access the
internet.)

Other notes:
- I can ping the desktop from one of the laptops, but not vice-versa.
- I disabled MacAfee Personal Firewall and Windows Firewall on the desktop
- The router firewall is enabled
- ipconfig /all shows the following on the desktop:
Host Name: HOME-DESKTOP
Primary DNS Suffix: (blank)
Node Type: Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled: No
WINS Proxy Enabled: No
DNS Suffix Search List: hsd1.wa.comcast.net

Can you ping 4.2.2.1? If yes, can you ping yahoo.com?

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Yes, I can ping both of those sites
successfully.
