I knew about Spybot and had disabled the Home Page lock feature.
I tried your instructions below and it still would not work. Still got
error message.
My IE has the following as it's home page setting:
'
www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?=ie&clcid=0x0c09&pver=6.0&ar=home"
and load the MSN home page.
I suspected a virus but have run all checks and loaded latest
Microsoft patches.
Can the changes in the '.reg' file be implemented manually?
thanks
Gary
SpyBot immunize feature seems to lock the homepages. Disable that.
As for the .reg export. try this parameter:
"regedit IE_reset_restrictions.reg"
copy the IE_reset_restrictions.reg to C:\ and run the above command
from c:\

Thanks Ramesh but unfortunately I have run both Ad-Aware and Spybot to
get rid of all spyware and then tried to reset Internet Explorer tabs
etc using the script below but it just keeps returning error messages.
"Cannot import: Error opening file. There may be a disk or file system
error."
cheers
Gary
Gary,
Reset the Internet Explorer tabs and remove all the browser
restrictions.
Download the script from:
Remove IE Restrictions & Restore Missing tabs & greyed out options:

g
The problem is due to a spyware. Download Ad-Aware from
www.lavasoftusa.com,
scan the system and eliminate the malware products. Re-apply the above
fix
if necessary.
** Remember to update the pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **

(e-mail address removed)
I installed a program that changed my IE6 Home Page. I have removed
the program as I did not appreciate some of its ways of trying to
control my PC. Unfortunately removing the program did not allow me to
restore my IE6 Home Page. The buttons 'Use Current', 'Use Default' and
'Use Blank' are all greyed out. The Home Page Address is also greyed
out and starts with 'redir.dll?..........................'
Is there a registry setting where I can remedy this situation?
If so what are the settings and the correct values?
