Home Page Wiped Out Using FP2002 and Frames

J

Jim McCabe

I can create my main frames page called "main.htm", and it
shows allright in the default.htm page. But when I
publish it, all my content is lost in both the main.htm
and default.htm pages.

I have created my main page (which is my home page) three
times, and Frontpage is wiping it out. Talk about
frustrating! What is the fix?

You home page (frames or otherwise) must have the file name your host has set as the default
- usually index or default (.htm/.html/.asp) etc.

I don't see any problems at http://waterwisetexas.org
Other than:
a) Your frames are too small for all your content at 800x600

b) Your Tables are invalid size for your cells as in:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" width="552"
id="AutoNumber1" height="979">
<tr><td width="596" colspan="3" height="19">

c) the space bar is not a design tool

d) rename all your pages and files to remove spaces - illegal html - breaks links
(as in Main%20Page.htm)

IMHO don't rely on JAVA hoover buttons for navigation since many people will either not have a valid JAVA engine installed or will
have JAVA blocked for security reasons

| My host has set as the default the file name "default.htm" which is the
| one I am using, and which has worked for the past 3 years.
| It looks as if FrontPage has incorrectly generated the HTML and in the
| process wiped out the correct HTML.
| Please go to <http://waterwisetexas.org> http://waterwisetexas.org to
| see what FrontPage did to my home page.
| (I have been using FrontPage since FP98, so have been around the block
| with this tool.)
| Can I delete default.htm and rebuild it from scratch (using FP2002), or
| will I create additional problems within the web site if I delete that page?
