Hi,

I am struggling to share files between two computers on my home network.
Below is the detail of my situation:

Both computers use Windows XP Home edition.
My computer has new motherboard and Xp installed recently. The vendor, while
installing Xp, totally wiped out my data on two of my hard drives.
So,currently I do not have MS Office 2003 on it.

My daughter's computer is dell, and has MS Office 2003.

We have a cable modem to access internet, and a router that connects to the
cable modem. Our two computers and a printer are connected to this earthlink
router. The printer also is directly connected to my computer.

The computer names of both computers are different, based on my and her names.
The group name is same: MSHOME.

I tried all I cold, but I cannot see files shared fro another computer.

I need exact checks, and procedure to follow to set ir right.

If you could help, please do. Thanks.

When I click to MSHOME under Entirenetwork.... I do not see two computers.
On mydaughter's computer I see only her computer listed; om my computer I
see etherlink router, and some internet service provider icon.

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, or other security component. There are several
other possibilities too. Read this article with an open mind.

If you can't find anything from the above article, let's look at "browstat
status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net config workstation",
from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
