Hi
I have 2 PC's linked by crossover cable, i have run the network wizaard on
both machines. I now have an icon in the tray which says 'Local Area
Conection Status; acquiring network address' all the time on my main machine
and on pc2 'local area connection enabled'. How do I get from here to sharing
files, printer, internet etc?

Paul,

The default network configuration is to receive an ip address from a router
or server. When you connect your two computer, they might be waiting to
receive an address or default to something like 169.254.0.X

You need to do this on both comptuer:
- go to network properties
- TCP IP settings
- Static address 192.168.0.1 in one computer
192.168.0.2 in the other computer
- subnet mask 255.255.255.0
- default gateway would be the same address you put in each computer

that should allow the 2 comptuers to see each other. If you have SP2
firewall enable, make sure to allow file and pritner sharing.

hope this helps,
RT
