Ok I am stumped.

I have 3 computers on my lan they all can ping each other only the host will
go on the internet but the host can't see any of the others in the
workgroup. I get, "you don't have permissions." I go to user accounts in
control panel and I get an error "unspecified error" and I can't access it.

The other clients can see each other and can share files the host can't
share with any.

They are all running XP pro. No firewalls on any except for the host which
has zonealarm pro. I am using a four port hub.

Any ideas.

Thanks

I think you just answered your own question. Try turning that off.

Rather than turn ZoneAlarm off, create a Subnet entry for the LAN in the
Firewall Zones table.

Yup I have tried both and no go.

I can't ping by computer name.
I can't view the work group.
And I can't access user accounts on the host machine.

Thanks again

When all else fails, install NetBEUI and use it for all local network
traffic. TCP/IP is only necessary for WAN-to-LAN traffic, and overly
complex for the simple needs of file and printer sharing. In fact, many
people use NetNEUI anyway for the added security it provides (it's not
routeable).

As I said, when all else fails, and particularly when you have no one to
help you directly, this will often solve the problem.

After reading the other threads I'll chime in. If all computers can ping
each other then TCP/IP is working. I'm not sure what you mean by the "host",
all computers and devices with an IP address are hosts. The first thing to
do is disable all firewalls (zone alarm and XP Pro firewall) until you get
it working, then enable them one at a time 'till it breaks and deal with
that as a separate issue. Instead of going to user accounts in control
panel, try right-clicking "my computer" and selecting manage, then access
local user accounts there. You must be an administrator to access user
accounts. Make sure you have matching accounts (username and password) on
all computers, that you are logged on using one of those accounts, and that
that account has permissions to access the share.
