Home edition and Pro....sharing files

Home computer has XP Home Edition and new laptop has XP Professional.I cannot
share files.I cannot access either laptop or home computer.I have looked for
the so called "simple file sharing to Uncheck' and cannot locate that.Thw
laptop has no users/passwords associated with it,however,the home computer
does.Could this be the reason of not being accessible?Or I have been told
that Home edition and XP pro cannot share files via wireless.Any truth to
this.Any help would be greatly appreciated as the laptop is a Xmas gift for
my daughter for school and need to have it working asap. Thanks to all you
can help.

Uncheck is located at Tools/Folder options/View and scrol to the bottom

Sure you need username and password in order to access other computer
for easier access put same pass on both of them

In XP Professional, open My Computer, click Tools > Folder Options >
View, and scroll to the end of the list of advanced settings.

XP Home Edition doesn't have that setting. Simple file sharing is
always enabled in XP Home Edition.

I recommend leaving that box checked in XP Professional, at least
until you've got file sharing working between the computers. It's
much easier to get sharing to work with simple file sharing enabled.

No truth at all. Anyone who would say that isn't a reliable source
for networking help.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers. It should make all
the right settings to enable them to share files.

Since you mention wireless, I assume that you have a wireless router.
Make sure that both computers can communicate successfully with the
wireless router.

You didn't say how you're trying to access one computer from the other
or what happens when you do it. Without those details, it's hard to
say what's wrong. If there are still problems after running the
Network Setup Wizard, please post another news group message with full
details of the situation: what options you specified to the Wizard,
what works, what doesn't work, what you're trying to do, how you're
trying to do it, complete text of all error messages, etc. I'm sure
that someone will be able to help.
