A friend from work who works in the IT dept has just told me he can get an e6600 for £100 if i want it. Now i have been toying on and off with the idea of getting a C2D for a while, and this is very tempting, very very tempting....

Was looking at getting the P5B Deluxe, and GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800mhz kit from OCUK.

Might just go for this......sell my left overs on Ebay....

Thats the exact memory and mobo i have :) Although i have the E6400, works well. The main reason i didnt get the 6600 was the price.

For those wondering here is what i ordered this morning. (Tried last night CC though it was a fraudulent transaction so it didn't go through. )

Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular PSU
ASUS P5B Deluxe (sorry flops but its the best C2D board for ocing, you have good taste. ;))
Geil 2GB PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2
Zalman CNPS9500-LED (Didn't get the Tuniq tower in the end, just too big!)

The E6600 is coming tomorrow (Hopefully, no, it better!) from my contact. ;)

New case and PSU in readyness for a GTX next month! :D

All other bit will be taken from my current pc, and left overs are going on Ebay. May have a thread here if anyone's interested...

Nice spec V_R - the only thing I would have changed was the Zalman 9500 for the 9700 as it has a larger 110mm fan which gives it a slight advantage when OCing :thumb:

I did wonder that too Ady,(Ummed and ahhed for a while about that) but i thought it maybe a bit too big still. I aint a fan of not being able to get to the MB when i need/want too. and i dont intend to oc the hell out of it, at least not yet anyway. I'll let the AS5 cure first. The Antec 900 has fantastic cooling so it should be ok i reckon. :)

Hey i can always change it if i want at a later date!

Nice future setup there V-R :thumb:

Ok, I've been looking around for some advice on overclocking and came across This

What do you think? Too complicated? Or Good?

I remember when overclocking was kinda simple, link them bridges to unlock multiiplier, mess with fsb and cpu voltage settings, that was it.

Looks to be a whole lot more sophisticated now.

So much so, I must admit to feeling a litle bewildered by it all.

However, both systems in my sig are running, crunched out, at below 40C CPU temp.

So I have room for overclocking.

I just need to know how

Yep, I know, I could suss it eventually on my own, no probs, but any advice apreciated :)
