I'm having trouble with my sound and in the registry key above there is only
one string value which is a default with value not set. My computer at work
has approx 45 string values. Is this why I cant get any system sounds or
internet explorer. My itunes and windows media players work with sounds.

I can't possibly comment on part of a registry key on a machine I can't see
and with no information about the computer.

See if the "Where did my sounds go" information from Kelly Theriot solves
your issue:

If not, post back with the missing details per:

I think you must mean Drivers32, or your topic was truncated but
that's okay.

This key is frequently attacked by malicious software, so do this
first:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://malwarebytes.org/
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if desired.

Reboot and see how things work, what you see, or don't see in the
registry.

Malicious software likes to tamper with this registry location, and
sometimes changes the permissions on the key so you can't see the
contents to fix the damage - it appears to be looks empty, when in
fact it is just not readable and therefore not displayable. It is
quite common.

Right click the Drivers32 entry and adjust the Permissions and make
sure the Read and other permissions are set appropriately for your
environment and users. Usually Users, Administrators, Power Users
need at least read permission, and change them if needed.

Find a key that works properly and compare the settings and adjust.

Reboot and see how things work, what you see, or don't see.

Troubleshoot remaining issues.
