Hit-and-miss Internet access on server?

Hello,

I'm a tech consultant working on a small network - 5 computers and a Windows
2000 Small Business server. I was called in because of lightning damage, and
found that the NIC card in the server was fried. Replaced it, and all was
well. However, the server now has spotty access to the Internet. Some days
I'll come in and I can get out on the web, and other days I'll come in and
nothing-- can't ping Internet addresses, surf, etc.

Does anyone know what I can check for this? All other computers on the
network can get out to the Internet just fine. The server can also
communicate with all devices on the LAN just fine. I'm stumped. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your starting point is to check the usual TCP/IP settings. You
should also check the hub/switch - it might have been damaged
too.
