Highlighting with an IF statement or using Cell Format

Hello everyone,

I want to be able to highlight cells if they are a certain amoun
without manually doing it everytime. For example I want all cells tha
are positive highlighted with green and all negatives highlighted wit
red. Is there a way to write an IF statement to do this? The othe
thought I had was possibly doing it by right clicking on the cell an
using Format Cells with a custom number type. I know in cell format yo
can change the font color, but can you change the highlight color? Le
me know if either are a possibility or if there is a different way t
do such a thing. Thanks

Select all the cells in question. Use Format/Conditional Formatting.
Change "between" to greater than, then enter 0, then click Format, and
select a green font.
Click OK, click Add, change "between" to Less Than, enter 0, click Format,
select a red font
Click OK all the way out.
If you want a pattern rather than a font color, choose the Pattern tab
instead of the Font tab.

Select all your cells, the use Format | Conditional formatting.... and set
one format for negative numbers "Cell Value is Less than 0", and another for
positive numbers "Cell Value is Greater than 0"
