HIgh CPU utilization under "System" service after new install

I just installated XP Pro on my system, but my CPU utilization stayed at 100% under "System" (not System Idle Process). When the Kernel % is shown in Task Manager, nearly all of the CPU activity was for the kernel (approx 98% give or take a few %

I tried applying all fixes and patches no change. I tried a new install without being connected to the internet to avoid any virus, no change. I have already reformated the HDD multiple times, tried a different video card, no chang

Any ideas on how to fix this

Hi Greg, I found a process explorer utility on sysinternals.com. I am having issues with High CPU with a svchost.exe file. This utility has lead me to the msvcrt.dll file being constantly called upon. If you are having the same issue and find a resolution, please post the fix to this thread. Thanks and good luck. Joh
