Hiding unused favorites in toolbar

Ferdy

Group,

I installed ie7 and my favorites tab is showing ALL of my favorites. My old
browser hid the unused sites and folders, but I remember I had to set it to
do so. Is this feature not available in ie7?

It is probably available in the same place as in IE6.
IE-Tools-Internet Options-Advanced
The option is "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"

If not, try the IE7 group.

I see in http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx that
the recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Thanks Alan. I would ask this question in the IE7 group, but it does not
yet exist (at least not on newsgroups.bellsouth.net).

I checked the settings you suggested and they are enabled. Additionally,
the "Close unused folders in History and Favorites" is also enabled.

The only thing that I suspect is that it takes a while for IE to figure out
that those folders are, in fact, unused.

Comments?

For IE7, use microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Use the free MS newsserver instead to access MS newsgroups:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Yes, give IE time to "learn".
