Hiding guidelines in cd label template

We're using a PowerPoint cd label template, which includes grey guidelines
for the cd so that the user knows what text will fit on the label.

These guidelines are autoshape circles. I don't know whether the guidelines
are the wrong size or whether the labels don't feed into the printer
properly, but sometimes the edge of a guideline shows on the printed label.
Is there any way to make the guidelines appear on screen, but not on the
actual labels when printed (like hidden text in Word)? Thanks!

Really not a good choice for CD Labels. You might consider the Avery Templates for Word, which give you more control over what your trying to do.

By the way, we're using Office XP.

Where did you get the CD label?

You may just need to delete the shapes on your final "print" version of the
file.

Thank you. I have been deleting the guidelines before printing, but I don't
know whether other users will know how to do that, which is why I was hoping
to find another method.

Sorry, PowerPoint doesn't have a "hide layer" option like Photoshop or
Illustrator.

In PPT 2007, there's an option to hide stuff using the Selection and
Visibility pane, though.

There's a lot of white space around the labels which you do not use. Insert
a textbox there, explaining for the other users, that they should delete the
guidelines before printing. If necessary, add a step-by-step explanation how
to do that.

Best regards,
Ute
