Hide movie in custom animation until ready to play

I am creating a slide using custom animation with several layers that will
appear in combinations of appearing on click and starting after previous. I
have a number of small movie clips I would like to play within the animation.
I know how to hide the movie clip after it plays, but is there any way to
hide it BEFORE it plays? No matter what I try, I have the big black box on
the slide. There may not be a way, but I thought I would see... Thanks!

It's kind of hidden.

Right-click the movie on the slide, choose Edit Movie Object, select Hide
While Not Playing.

Thank you, Trish and Echo S! What you suggested is exactly what I had been
trying to do, yet it wouldn't quite work. What I just figured out is that if
you select "Hide After Animation" in the Effects Options, it causes the movie
to stay on the screen. So if I keep that selection on "Don't Dim", everything
works just as you said! Thanks for your help!
