Hidding Folder

Hi, how are you doing?

I would like to know if is possible to creating a folder on Windows NTFS
partition, but this folder will be hidden from all users, including
administrators, system, and all top users, excepts to a user account wich I
will create wich will have total access to folder, so when I log on the
machine using the special user, the folder will be available, because I need
to put some database files so to prevent users viewing, editing, and making
trouble to me, I think this can be a solution.

Is it possible to be done?

Can you shed some light?

Thanks

Define "hidden". I believe that third party software exists that allows you to
encrypt folders so that they can only be opened with the right password, but the
administrators will be able to see that the folder is there. They will also be
able to steal the password to the folder when you next type it in, if they have
a mind to.

Basically, no, you can't defend yourself against a malicious administrator.

Yes that's quite straightforward to do, only proviso is that any Adminstrator
user can take possession of the folder, over-riding the security, so
basically it's only secure for limited users.

Other point to watch is that files dragged into the folder from outside will
retain their previous permissions, so they won't be secure. This is an easy
trap to fall into, and as there is no obvious sign of the files being
insecure, you may not be aware it's happened.

As an alternative , Truecrypt might be a better approach.
