Hidden Text

Recently I have been unable to actually hide hidden text
in my documents. When I highlight the line of text and
click on format/font/hidden, the text is not hidden. When
I toggle the paragraph (formating) icon on the tool bar,
the text stays visible.
This problem seems to have surfaced after having
downloaded an either a Windows XP or Office XP update
from MS, I cannot remember which one.

Tools > options > view > uncheck hidden text.
