Hidden paragraphs

I am trying to insert a hidden paragraph between two sentances so that the sentances appear on the same line (i.e., the text in the second paragraph immediately follows the text from the first paragraph). This allows me to use different styles for each paragraph while the text appears as one seemless paragraph. How do you insert a "hidden paragraph"

You don't want a hidden paragraph; you want a hidden paragraph *mark.*
Display nonprinting characters (Ctrl+* or click the Show/Hide ¶ button on
the Standard toolbar), select the paragraph mark (¶), and format it as
Hidden (Ctrl+Shift+H or Format | Font: Hidden).
