hidden files and folders

Windows XP Home Edition...folder options, view, hidden files and
folders...mine is hung up on "Show hidden files and folders". I click the
"do not show" radio button, apply, okay. I go back later to check and it is
back to the "Show hidden files and folders". Is there a fix available?

Hi gary

Open Regedit (Start | Run | regedit) and navigate to the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\NOHIDDEN]

What do you have for CheckedValue and DefaultValue? Both should be set
to 0x00000002 (2).

They seemed to be set correctly but the "showall" CheckedValue is set for
0x00000003 and default is set for 0x00000002. Is this correct??????

Hi Gary

No, it isn't. For SHOWALL, CheckedValue should be 0x00000001 (1). This
could well be what's causing the problem. Try changing it, reboot then
try again to select "Do not show. . ."
