hibernate

Whenever I try to hibernate, I get this message. "The
device driver for the'Communications Port (COM1)' device
is preventing the machine from entering hibernation.
Please close all applications and try again. If the
problem persists, you may have to update this driver."
I have closed all applications and tried again with no
help.
What do I do? What driver?

This is a driver, not an application. Do you have any outside device
connected to the serial port on the machine? If so it is the driver for
that: if not go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager
and look in Ports (Com and LP) for the COM1 one, highlight, and Action -
Disable
