Hibernate waking loses wireless connectivity

I have a Toshiba M3 laptop (built-in Intel wireless, Marvell Yukon gigabit)
running XP Pro sp2. When I wake it from hibernation by opening the lid, the
wireless connection doesn't want to restore even though things seem to be
working okay. I still have an IP and sometimes can reconnect to mapped
network drives on my intranet, sometimes not. Even when I can do that, I
can't get out to the internet. MSN Messenger troubleshooting says there is a
problem with the gateway.
If I connect a cable to the wired port, then I can connect to everything and
once I do, I can disconnect the hard line and then wireless works
fine...until the next hibernation. My wife's Dell laptop (XP Pro sp2) doesn't
have this problem. Hers can go in and out of hibernation all day and connect
right back to the intranet and internet via wireless (pcmcia card).

The problem that you're seeing is quite common. Try disabling the
wireless connection before hibernating and enabling it after waking
up.

Will do! Glad to hear I'm not alone, but also not glad to hear it's that
common. This is something MS should have fixed by now with the proliferation
of wi-fi.

I'm not sure that it's MS's problem. The problem could be with the
software supplied by the wireless adapter manufacturer. Downloading
and installing the latest driver program and firmware might help.

Some wireless network adapters wake up from Standby and connect
perfectly. Some don't.
