Herky jerky performance after installing SP4

I just installed SP4 yesterday (Win 2000) and now
performance is herky jerky. It may just be the mouse -
but I'm not 100% sure. Every few seconds the mouse
freezes for a few seconds. Its a Logitech cordless. I
resinstalled the drivers but it still happens. Any ideas?

Sounds like the batteries going.
