hi i have an ata 160gb maxtor diamond plus 9 and im building my ow
computer, and i got everything in, i updated my bios, and i used th
maxblast software and i partitioned it to be a 60gb and a 100gb. bu
when i am trying to install windows xp pro w/ sp1 it shows an unknow
drive that i cant format partition or delete any partition, it wont le
me press enter to install windows or anything, and that hd still work
bc i used it as my secondary on my old computer, i am reall
frusterated and stuff right now, and i need to get this done now... iv
been watitin too long and i want to eat my turkey, lol, any help i
appreatead, thanks!!!!!

Don't use the Maxblast software to partition and format your drive; it doesn't
work. Use your Windows XP cd to partition and format your drive.

And I'll add, using WXP will normally reserve an 8MB partition for it's own
use that you won't be able to use so don't worry about it.

Don't use Maxblast. Boot the XP installation CD, when its setup asks
where, hit ESC and you can select and delete both those partitions.
Then make a new RAW one to install to (and I would myself make it
smaller - say 20GB, to make backing it up easier). Once XP is running,
Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk
Management and look lower right for the graphic of the drive. R-click
in the Unallocated space and make the second partition
