help !!

i was trying to clean up my husbands pc and i think i deleted a needed
file..when i rebooted it said NTLDR missing so i put the xp disk it and let
it reload...Now i have other issues (ugh) the monitor goes to sleep with a
message input signal out of range set to 1440 x 900 60Hz....and it looks like
i may have wiped out all his files...HELP!!
